The permanent makeup artist for mature women over 40.

As we age, our skin changes, hormones change and medications create differences in our chemical makeup. Understanding these variables is essential in being able to provide the best possible permanent makeup results. As we mature, so does our taste and personal style. We no longer follow fads or trends because we have our own style that is appropriate for us.

The hormonal changes that occur during menopause can have a significant impact on a woman's skin. As estrogen levels decrease, the skin undergoes various changes, leading to specific skincare needs. Permanent makeup should be implanted with the unique needs of each clients changing skin in mind. Our ever changing skin heals differently than in the skin of an 18 year old. Here are some of the special needs of women's skin after menopause:

  1. Dryness: Menopause often leads to a decrease in oil production and moisture retention in the skin. This can result in dryness, flakiness, and itchiness. Using a rich, hydrating moisturizer can help combat dry skin and keep it supple.

  2. Wrinkles and Fine Lines: Reduced collagen production and skin elasticity can lead to the development of wrinkles and fine lines. Anti-aging skincare products containing ingredients like retinoids, peptides, and antioxidants can help minimize the appearance of these signs of aging.

  3. Thinning Skin: After menopause, the skin can become thinner and more fragile. It's important to handle the skin gently to prevent damage and avoid harsh exfoliation or aggressive skincare treatments.

  4. Sun Damage: Over time, cumulative sun exposure can result in sun damage and age spots. Wearing sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection daily is crucial to prevent further damage and protect the skin from harmful UV rays.

  5. Collagen Loss: Menopause contributes to a decrease in collagen production, which can lead to sagging skin. Topical treatments containing collagen-boosting ingredients like peptides and hyaluronic acid can help firm and plump the skin.

  6. Hot Flashes and Fluctuations in Blood Flow: Hot flashes can cause increased blood flow to the skin, resulting in redness and flushing. Using products designed to soothe and calm the skin, such as those containing chamomile or aloe vera, can help manage these symptoms.

  7. Hormonal Acne: Some women may experience hormonal acne during menopause due to imbalances in hormones like testosterone. Skincare products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide can be beneficial for managing acne breakouts.

  8. Sensitivity: The skin may become more sensitive after menopause, so it's essential to use gentle, fragrance-free skincare products to minimize the risk of irritation or allergic reactions.

In addition to skin changes, medications and other medical conditions can and will affect how permanent makeup is done.

Why Digital Permanent Makeup?

Digital permanent makeup is the preferred method to implant pigment in women over 40 years old. There is typically no down time and scabbing like there is with microblading to traditional permanent makeup. It is more genital to the skin and doesn't traumatize the skin like other methods of permanent makeup.. This is why the digital method is ideal for thinning or delicate skin.
